Message from the Headteacher - September 23rd

Dear Parents

This week Year 6 lead a special Assembly where they talked about their aspirations for their final year at the Prep School.  The children are aiming to challenge themselves academically with many aiming for a scholarship to the Senior School and are working hard to improve their grades.  For all there was a real desire to help lead the Prep School in the additional roles and responsibilities they enjoy from being a year 6 pupil.

I am delighted to announce that the first of our year 6 Stars made their promises in front of the school during Assembly this week.  They promised to do their very best around the school and to uphold the values of a Battle Abbey pupil.  The Stars are chosen for their leadership qualities and their abilities to help both children and staff around the school.

Congratulations to our Stars:-
• India Taylor-Johnson
• Olivia Nurse
• Jaime Samms
• Bertie Young; and
• Sian Pearson.

We know they will be great ambassadors for our school.
This week we also announced our School Council representatives for this half year.  These are hotly contested positions of responsibility as each representative is voted by the peers in their class.

Congratulations go to:-
• Armani Tanna – Year 1
• Olivia Mullarkey – Year 2
• Samuel Webster – Year 3
• Mathilda Richardson – Year 4
• Emily Paice – Year 5 and
• Olivia Nurse – Year 6

who were presented with special badges. These children were chosen because they are keen to make our school even better than it already is, to try to care for everyone in the school and to give the children in the school a chance to make decisions.

The children are now firmly established in their routines, the sports teams are coming together ready for the competitive season ahead and the year has got off to an excellent start.

The children are excited to be part of the Open Morning tomorrow between 10.00am and 12.00 noon where we will be opening our doors to existing and prospective parents.  Visitors tomorrow will be able to see the children at work and at play and will be able to experience the happy, lively, purposeful environment that characterises the Prep School.

Best regards
Maria Maslin - Headteacher
