The Autumn term has started briskly at the Preparatory School with all children returning smartly dressed on Monday. We have welcomed 19 new children and their families to the Prep School this week and we hope they enjoy a long and successful association with Battle Abbey School. All children have settled remarkably quickly into their new routines and as we draw to the end of our first week back there is an air of calm and purpose to be enjoyed throughout the school.
Our maintenance and estates teams worked hard during the summer holidays redecorating the corridors and refurbishing the year 3 and 4 classrooms and the school is looking splendid.
It is exciting to see so many of our pupils choosing from the wide and diverse range of after school and extra activities. We now offer Mandarin lessons as an option for pupils in Key Stage 1 upwards, along with our more traditional activities. The new Science Club for children in Key Stage 2, taught by Ann Carey from the Senior School has already taken to the school grounds; they could be found on Wednesday afternoon armed with pooters scooping up mini-beasts for closer inspection and identification.
Staff have been busy organising exciting events and activities for later in the term which will enrich the children’s curriculum and I know that the children will gain greatly from these experiences.
I have greatly enjoyed having the opportunity to talk to new and existing parents during morning drop off and pick up times and my thanks go to everyone who has made me feel so very welcome during my first week at the school. I look forward to many happy years at Battle Abbey Preparatory School.
