Dear Parents
This week has been very busy with the inspectors back on site at both the Senior and Prep Schools. The children have been so full of energy, life and enthusiasm in the School that all our visitors cannot help but be impressed with the array of classroom and extra curricular activities that go on at the Prep School every day. The children really are the best ambassadors for our School.
The inevitable preparation that surrounds the inspectors’ visits has led me to think in particular about how the enriched curriculum and wealth of extra-curricular activities that we provide contributes substantially to the education of the whole child. A good example of this was the musicians from “Shake Rattle and Roll” who visited the School as part of our music enrichment day on Wednesday. The children greatly enjoyed the whole school performance by the professional percussionists and the hall rang out with pulsating Samba rhythms of Rio and unmistakable sounds of the Caribbean. The hall was filled with laughter and participation and the children were fascinated by the range of percussion instruments. Every child took part in percussion workshops resulting in amazing performances where the rhythms filled the school. We believe it is important for our children to be interested in and aware of as many diverse cultures and art forms as possible and this certainly was an unforgettable learning experience.
Many of our Year 5 and 6 pupils have registered for the forthcoming Enrichment Day which is being held at the Senior School on Saturday the 26th November. Our Year 5 and 6 pupils will be joining pupils from other local Schools to take part in master classes led by subject specialists in Art, History and Dance.
As we reach ever closer to 2012, our Centenary year, plans for a number of exciting, collaborative projects to bring us even closer to both the Nursery and Senior School are progressing well.
Best regards
Maria Maslin
