Dear Parents
It was lovely to welcome everyone back to the Prep School on Monday after the Christmas break. The children were eager to share their holiday news.
This term we welcome two new pupils and their families to the Prep School - Kirsty in Reception and Abigail in Year 2. We wish them every happiness and success during their time with us.
Our assembly time this week has been used to think about and discuss the beginning of a new year, to use it as an opportunity for a fresh start and to set ourselves personal challenges for 2012. The children collected ideas as to how they could add a little extra to their lives and collectively make their lives and worlds better places. Some children wanted to grasp the New Year and use it as an opportunity to do more exercise, to work harder at school and others wanted to do more work for charity. All of these personal goals will be encouraged and supported by their friends and school staff. I am delighted to announce that Shannon Hughes has joined our year 6 Stars this term and she made her promise in front of the school during Assembly this week.
The children at the Prep School collect “Pluses” for good work and conduct both in the classroom and around the school. There was great excitement at the end of term Mark Reading, when the House Cup was presented to St. Mary’s House who had the most Pluses overall.
The Autumn Term House placings were as follows:-
1st - St. Mary’s
2nd - St. Etheldreda’s
3rd - St. Martin’s
4th - St. Patrick’s.
The first week has flown by, the children have all settled quickly back into the routine of school and we are all looking forward to the exciting activities and learning opportunities planned for the term ahead.
Best wishes for a successful 2012.
Maria Maslin Prep School Headteacher
