Message from the Headteacher - January 20th 2012

Dear Parents

This week at school the children have been thinking about aiming high and “Going for Goals”.

In Assembly we discussed the importance of aiming high and of knowing what they want to achieve both in and out of school.  We acknowledged that achieving goals could be extremely hard work, but that we should persevere.  We thought about how difficult it is to learn a new sport or musical instrument and recognised that when things get difficult we might feel like giving up or we might grow bored and frustrated at not being good at doing something as quickly as we would like. We decided that as a school we would support each other in our new ventures and goals and would look to our friends and teachers to help when things get tough; everyone needs encouragement when they are trying to achieve something that is very difficult for them.  We had a time for quiet reflection when each child thought of something that they really want to do, or do better in the term ahead.

Attention at the Prep School turns to the Performing Arts in the week ahead with performances of Alice in Wonderland by the Speech and Drama clubs; Thursday 26th January at 4.45pm for Key Stage 2 and Friday 27th January at 3.45pm for Key Stage 1.  The children have been busy learning their lines and final dress rehearsals demonstrated that the children are ready to give great performances; the children rose to the occasion and Miss Mills is proud of them all. Miss Mills wishes to thank the parents for the support they have given their children in preparation for
these performances and for providing amazing costumes.

Please email the school office if you would like us to reserve a seat for either performance.

Best wishes.

Maria Maslin Prep School Headteacher
