Dear Parents
The Prep School has been a hive of activity this week. The place has been buzzing with all the different activities the children have been engaged in; there has been no shortage of opportunities to challenge and expand the children’s creative energy and no denying that sport plays an important part of life at the Prep School. The many articles and reports in this week’s newsletter give you a flavour of just what a vibrant School we are!
Monday marked the start of the Chinese New Year – The Year of the Dragon. The whole school enjoyed a delicious, themed lunch to mark the occasion. Mrs You the mother of Jia-Xin brought in a Chinese feast which was shared between the children and staff; it included duck pancakes, sticky spare ribs and oodles of noodles. Lucy Lai brought in traditional Chinese gifts and special envelopes for all the children in Reception class. Year 1 spent the day looking at the way Chinese New Year is celebrated and wished the rest of the school a very happy Kung Hei Fat Choy, which means good fortune for the year ahead!
The rest of the week was no less exciting; with an inter-school girls’ swimming gala, a girls’ hockey match, a visiting Science
Theatre production, two performances of ‘Alice in Wonderland’ and children from year 6 visiting the Abbey for a science evening with Mr Flutter.
Next week sees the Prep School Boys’ U11 Rugby Team in action for two away matches. Parents and friends are warmly welcome to attend all matches both at home and away and your support is always very much appreciated by players and staff. Children in Key Stage Two are greatly looking forward to visiting The Assembly Halls in Tunbridge Wells next Friday for a lively performance of "The Terrible Tudors".
As January draws to a close we are all looking forward to the days getting a little longer and brighter.
Best wishes
Maria Maslin Prep School Headteacher
