Dear Parents
St Mary’s led an interesting Assembly on Wednesday 29th February about leap years and why we have an extra day in February every four years. It made us think of our "extra day" and what we could use it for. An important message from this is that every day should be used wisely - time is a gift.
Well we are glad there was an extra day in February, as the Prep School have a very busy schedule coming up for March with many special activities and visits planned for the children.
The sporting calendar for the rest of term is full with competitive fixtures, swimming galas and the regional round of the National Swimming Competition at the K2 Centre in Crawley on Monday 19th March. Our children have been practicing hard and have really developed as teams over the winter sports season.
The Hastings Musical Festival will soon be upon us and amazingly we have nearly half the school taking part in one or more classes! The Choir sound beautiful and the Speech and Drama classes are confident and well rehearsed. We are all looking forward to hearing about their experiences on the big stage as the Festival progresses.
With the warmer weather upon us the children have got many trips and visits booked out and about; extending their learning - from the classroom, into the countryside and theatres of Sussex.
The Prep School is pleased to announce newly elected members of the School Council to serve until the end of the school year. They will be continuing the great work of the previous School Council in making the School more eco-friendly and in making sure that the pupils have a strong pupil voice in the year of our School Centenary. These positions are always hotly contested and we send congratulations to:-
• Year 1 - Wil Fouraker;
• Year 2 - Connor Jackson;
• Year 3 - Hermione White;
• Year 4 - Ellie Bostock-Smith;
• Year 5 - Louis Choron;
• Year 6 - Daisy Underdown.
Badges were presented to each representative in Assembly this week and they will soon be featured on our dedicated School Council Board.
