Message from the Headteacher - March 23rd 2012

Dear Parents

What a fantastic end to a very busy term!

It has been a week of high achievement and great enjoyment at the Prep School this week.

Monday started in spectacular fashion with the swimming team heading to the K2 Centre at Crawley for the National Schools Swimming Championship.  I am delighted to inform you that our swimmers came in second position in both the Medley and Freestyle Relays and qualified for the next round in Southampton.  Many of the swimmers achieved personal bests and were cheered on by our supportive group of parents who had travelled to West Sussex for the event.  A huge thank you goes to Miss Govan and Ms Duncan-Broad who organised and trained the team.

Tuesday and Thursday saw many children competing at the Hastings Music Festival.  Every child stepped up to the challenge with great confidence and there were some commanding performances.  One parent commented that during the classes the children looked after each other and supported one another very well.

The Prep School Choir sang at the Centenary Spring Concert on Tuesday evening.  Their presence at the concert was accurately summed up by one of the parents Mr Young when he said, “Their performance was a wonderful cocktail of well-rehearsed professionalism and an amazing and tangible joie de vivre. They were having such obvious fun that it lifted the spirits of all those fortunate enough to have been there.”  Congratulations to Miss Neave our choir director for her dedication and energy; the children clearly gain their joy of performing from her.

Thank you to all who joined in and supported our Sports Relief event today - more to follow in my next newsletter.

Everyone at the Prep School wishes you a relaxing Easter break.  School resumes after the break on Monday 16th April.

Best wishes.

Maria Maslin
