Message from the Headteacher - March 9th 2012

Dear Parents

The children from Year 3 led a wonderful Assembly at the Prep School on Wednesday about what it means to be a friend.  They talked about learning to accept each other for what they are to become true friends. We looked at a special hand shaped poem that was talking about friendship and performed their own shape poem called “Circle of Friendship”.  They shared with us their thoughts on friendship and the qualities needed to be a good friend:-

•    A friend is someone who listens and with whom we can share our problems;
•    A friend is someone who is trustworthy, is always there for you and never lets you down;
•    We need to work at being a friend and help and support each other through the difficult times to help us enjoy the good times.

My favourite definition of being a good friend was from George who said that “friends are like walls because they are solid and you can lean on them”.  It was a clear visual image of friendship that every child could take away with them from the Assembly.

The school has enjoyed another busy week with educational visits, a theatre trip, sporting fixtures and early success on day one of the Hastings Music Festival.

Special mention goes to Connor Jackson who inspired all others by being the very first competitor of the Festival.  Congratulations to the following children who were placed in their Singing Classes; Evie McCabe for coming in first place in her class, Amy Rosling and Jaime Samms for coming in second place in their classes, to Bertie Young and Sophie Cutting for coming third in their class and to all our other competitors for rehearsing so hard and for performing with such confidence.

The excitement of this week will not finish today as we wish our U11 netball team who are
taking part in the Schools’ Area Netball Tournament at Claverham tomorrow good luck!

Best wishes.

Maria Maslin
