Message from the Headteacher - April 27th 2012

Dear Parents

On Monday morning Miss Malewicz, accompanied by four Sixth Form pupils, joined us for Assembly. They showed an interesting slide show from the visit to Kenya two years ago and the Prep School children were amazed at how the older students had actually built classrooms for a School out of wood on their last visit. Miss Malewicz explained where money raised for this project had been spent and then told us about the Kenyan Expedition for this year. This summer the aim is to build further classrooms and a toilet block for a School in Kenya. The Prep School children will be raising money for this expedition by having a sponsored swim during the week of 7th May and by having a "Guess the member of staff from a Baby Photo" competition. Look out for further details coming home very soon.

The children from Dance Club performed a well rehearsed dance to family and friends. The children danced with great energy and they greatly enjoyed the piece which was the end result of last term’s hard work.

A huge thank you to Miss Mills for the choreography; her obvious enthusiasm for her dancers was evident in the children’s accomplishment.

Unfortunately the first sporting fixture of the Summer term fell victim to the bad weather and had to be cancelled due to the heavy rain experienced on Wednesday. We are hoping to reschedule this soon.

Year 4 enjoyed an informative day at Fishbourne Roman Palace in West Sussex on Thursday led by Mr Croft. This visit complemented their History studies on Roman Britain. The children returned from their day enthused by what they had seen, all clasping a replica Roman coin as a memento of the day. Mr Croft commented that the children were a credit to the school and that their impeccable behaviour was noticed by other visitors and staff at the centre.

Best wishes
Maria Maslin
 Prep School Headteacher
