Message from the Headteacher - May 11th 2012

Dear Parents

…………….and still it rains! The Summer sporting programme is falling increasingly behind schedule with yet another fixture falling victim to the adverse weather this week. It was fortuitous planning, and rather ironic, that this year’s major fundraising event for the Prep School is a sponsored swim!

Sponsor forms have been filled in and there was great excitement as Years 1-6 completed their sponsored swim event during this week’s swimming sessions. Every child rose to the challenge to swim as many lengths or widths as possible and pushed themselves to the limit; with many of the swimmers in Key Stage 2 swimming over a mile within the time limit. In fact two of our swimmers swam enough to complete two miles in the time given; a truly amazing achievement. Parents who have sponsored their children by the length or width may wish they had opted to sponsor via the total amount method instead!

The qualities of Friendship, Respect, Courage, Excellence,

Inspiration, Determination and Equality are the core values of the Olympic and Paralympics athletes. Whilst talking to the swimmers after the sponsored event it became clear that the children had worked together, supporting the efforts of all to achieve highly which closely mirrors these values.

Good luck to children in the Reception class who will complete their sponsored swim on Monday.

We wish our Year 6 pupils good luck as they sit their end of Key Stage Tests next week. They have been working very hard and are well prepared for the exam papers they will sit.

We will be holding our next Prep and Nursery Open Day on Friday 18th May from 10am to 3pm. If you know of anyone who would like an opportunity to see what the Prep School has to offer please let them know.

With best wishes.

Maria Maslin
