Dear Parents
The first two weeks of the Summer term have got off to a flying start. Even this wet weather has not been able to dampen the children’s enthusiasm and energy for School. Many of the children have been out and about in Sussex over the last few days visiting both Woods Mill and Knockhatch. Fortunately each trip enjoyed dry weather and the children were able to fully benefit from their educational experiences away from the classroom.
Congratulations to our Swim Squad who swam so well at The Quays Southampton last Saturday. Getting through to this Regional round was a fantastic achievement and they rose to the high standard of swimming demanded at this level; participating schools in this region came from as far afield as Oxfordshire. They competed in two relay events – the mixed-stroke and freestyle with strong times cheered on by their families. They finished amongst the top schools in Sussex. Well done to all our swimmers and to Miss Govan for training the team and accompanying them to Southampton.
Our initiative to “Go Green” at the Prep School this year is producing amazing results. To date we have sent 99 big rubbish bags of paper and 33 bags of plastic bottles to our local recycling centre. Keep going everyone!
The children have been practising their swimming and are all ready for the Prep School Sponsored Swim 2012 which is taking place next week. The money raised by this event will go to support both the Kipling Children’s Ward at the Conquest Hospital and this summer’s Senior School Expedition to Kenya. Do please continue to collect sponsors over the long weekend ready for a fabulous fundraising occasion.
Please remember that School is closed for the Bank Holiday on Monday 7th May. We wish you all a happy Bank Holiday weekend!
With best wishes
Maria Maslin
