Dear Parents
The first of our Year 6 Stars made their promises in front of the School during Assembly this week. They promised to do their very best around the School and to uphold the values of a Battle Abbey pupil. The Stars are chosen for their leadership qualities and their abilities to help both children and staff around the school.
Congratulations to our Stars:-
• Emily Paice; and
• Freya Maslin-Brown
We know they will be great Ambassadors for our School.
This week we also announced our School Council representatives for this half year. These are hotly contested positions of responsibility as many of the representatives were elected by peers in their class.
Congratulations go to:-
• Kirsty Lowe – Year 1
• Oliver Edmead – Year 2
• Evie McCabe – Year 3
• Hope Foxall – Year 4
• Imogen Birkett – Year 5 and
• Freya Maslin-Brown – Year 6
who were presented with special badges. These children were chosen because they are keen to make our School even better than it already is, to try to care for everyone in the School and to give the children in the School a chance to make decisions.
School Assemblies this week have also given us the opportunity to celebrate the successes of our pupils. Their ballet teacher, Miss Jane, had coached the girls to a very high standard for their Primary Grade and we are all thrilled by their successes; Heidi Clements, Sophia Ashir and Isabelle Kemp received Highly Commended, whilst the top Honours grade was awarded to Imogen Wheatley.
Children from Year 5 led Assembly on Wednesday. They told the School the story of a wolf escaping from hunters and how each part of the wolf’s body had been important in getting him to the cave safely. The message of everyone being important and being part of a team came through strongly. We discussed all the different ways in which we work together at School to achieve our goals and aspirations.
With best wishes for a lovely late summer weekend.
Maria Maslin
