Dear Parents
The first half of this term appears to have flown by with a
continual variety of events and learning experiences enriching the lives of the children.
Wednesday afternoon saw the Prep School football team welcome Years 7 and 8 to the Prep School for an afternoon of competitive football. Fortunately it was a dry afternoon, the sun shone and a full sporting programme was enjoyed by the boys. There were some thrilling matches between the Senior and Prep School and the inter-house football tournament produced some hotly contested matches. There was a wonderful atmosphere and sense of camaraderie between the boys. A full match report is included in this week’s newsletter.
The entrance hall of the Prep School is full of enchanting wishing wells, created by the children in Year 2. Their delightful design, complete with winding mechanisms, have made everyone stop and admire them this week and the children have proudly shown them to their parents. There is also a book of Wishing Well Stories which have been written by the children to accompany their well designs. These stories are based on their first wishes and are well worth a read.
There is a great air of excitement amongst the children in Key Stage 2 as the casting of “Peter Pan”, our pantomime this year, has now been finalised. Mr Croft has handed out scripts to Year 6 and I am sure that over half-term the children will be busy learning their lines and getting into character. Miss Neave has given out the lyrics of the songs for practising over the half term holiday. The songs themselves are incredibly fun and catchy and I am anticipating that many families will soon be picking up the odd chorus or two!
I would like to congratulate the children on the way they have risen to the challenges so far this school year and praise them for the effort they continue to display in all that they do at School. We wish all the children and their families a restful holiday and look forward to welcoming you all back to school on Monday 5th November.
Best wishes.
Maria Maslin
