Dear Parents
Thank you to everyone at the Prep School for wearing items of denim clothing to school today to support the Jeans for Genes Charity. In Assembly on Monday we learnt all about this Charity which supports children who have been seriously affected by a genetic disorder and funds pioneering research into these conditions. We all enjoyed wearing our jeans to school for the day and raised the total of £133.75 for this worthwhile cause – many thanks to you all for your donations.
On Tuesday our swimming team competed in a fantastic gala at Claremont School. There were some outstanding individual performances and the team spirit ensured that every Battle Abbey Swimmer received enthusiastic support as well as many amazing victories. Thanks go to our supporting parents who cheered the team through every race and to Miss Govan for coaching the team.
The mixed weather we have again endured this week meant that the Bexhill Cross Country Championships, scheduled to take place on Wednesday, were postponed again due to heavy rain. These will now be rescheduled next February.
The children at the Prep School regularly enjoy exciting enrichment activities to extend their thinking and skills in different areas of the curriculum. Next Tuesday local poet and author Brian Moses will be spending the day at the Prep School with his Poetry and Percussion shows for both Key Stage 1 and 2 and a creative writing workshop for years 5 and 6. The children are very much looking forward to this visit and have been researching his poems in readiness.
We are looking forward to another action packed week at the Prep School next week!
Have a lovely weekend.
Best wishes
Maria Maslin
