Dear Parents
Wearing dotted clothes for a good cause was order of the day at the Prep School today as the school swapped their usual school uniform and went “spotty” to support the BBC Children in Need Appeal. Children arrived at school this morning dressed in mufti and wearing some amazingly spotty outfits. The whole school enjoyed a themed lunch including spotty chocolate brownies. All money raised for this well-known charity will go to provide grants to projects in the United Kingdom which focuses on disadvantaged children and young people.
Children from Years 1 and 2 led a thoughtful Remembrance Assembly on Monday for the whole School. Beautiful poppies handmade by the children were displayed in the Hall. The children read out their own work entitled “I remember….” Poems and prayers remembering the millions who have died in war were recited. At the end of the Assembly there was a moment for everyone to reflect and think about all the people who have died in wars since World War 1. It was a moving Assembly.
Year 1 have been learning about the Festival of Diwali and on Wednesday they shared their work with the whole School. Some of the children were dressed up in traditional Indian clothes. Every child proudly showed their hand-crafted and painted diva lamps. Ms Blau, our Year 1 teacher, explained in what way the Festival of Diwali celebrates the return of Rama and Sita and demonstrates how good wins over evil. The children from Year 1 showed their wonderful Rangoli art, which had been inspired from traditional Hindu designs. We were amazed at how carefully they had created their intricate patterns.
Please remember that tomorrow is our Open Morning at the Prep School and Nursery. We look forward to welcoming current and prospective families between 10am and 12 noon to see the children at work and at play.
Best wishes
Maria Maslin
Headteacher
