Dear Parents
St Mary’s led a colourful Assembly on Monday based on the theme of “Superheroes”. Not the type of heroes who wear their underwear over their trousers or those who save the planet but true heroes. The message coming through from the Assembly was that true heroes are ordinary people who do extraordinary things to become heroes. St Mary’s explained that an extraordinary thing does not have to be life changing but can be anything that takes courage and determination. The children decided that learning to help others and focusing less on our own needs were important skills to display in their quest to becoming true superheroes.
Wednesday was the turn of St E’s who presented the School with their Record Breaking Assembly. They shared interesting, fascinating and peculiar records with us as well as those about endeavour and how people have strived to be the best in their quest to break records. The children of St E’s, inspired by what they had discovered, then shared some of their own record breaking goals for the future; we watched Amelie’s fast cup stacking routine, Ryan’s wish to score more goals in football and Shivani wanted to beat her score in a times table test. We concluded that having good motivation and practising often was what was required for us to be our own record breakers!
Next Tuesday morning the Prep School will be holding pancake races to mark Shrove Tuesday. The children will be competing in their House groups and as usual there will be plenty of rivalry. During today’s House time there were plenty of pancakes being tossed and competitive tactics being discussed! The children and House Ms are looking forward to this event very much!
Best wishes
Maria Maslin
