Message from the Headteacher June 14th 2013

Dear Parents

It was lovely to see so many people at our Art Exhibition this afternoon.  Every child in the Prep School and Nursery had designed their own piece of artwork ready for the display.  Each piece was professionally framed and hung; transforming our School Hall into an Art Gallery.  Parents could then purchase their child’s work to enjoy on the walls at home.  Thank you to Josephine Ho our Prep School art teacher for organising and co-ordinating this event.

The Dance showcase at the Abbey last night saw six ballet dancers from the Prep School dance a section from The Nutcracker with older dancers from the Senior School.  Jane Coleman, the girls’ ballet teacher, had choreographed a section of the story which showed off the talents of every child.  The children, Imogen Birkett, Madison Mullarkey, Ellie Bostock-Smith, Imogen Scott-Carter, Isabelle Kemp and Imogen Wheatley danced with great confidence and received deserved applause for their performances.  The whole evening was a great triumph and it was lovely for the Prep School children to see the range of outstanding talent that exists throughout the School.

Assembly on Wednesday was led by the children and teachers from the Reception class and Year 1.  In keeping with their theme of “The Seaside”, they entertained us all with some seaside songs and artwork of beautiful tropical fish.  Ms Blau then read the well-known children’s story of the Rainbow Fish and we were all reminded that being selfish and keeping things for yourself does not bring happiness and that sharing what you have with others and being a good friend brings self-fulfillment.

Last week we said goodbye to Riley from year 3 and his family.  They are relocating to New Zealand and we wish them every happiness for their new adventure on the other side of the world.

Tomorrow we are holding Family Day at the Abbey from 1.00pm – 4.00pm for every Battle Abbey School family to enjoy and we are very much looking forward to seeing you there.

With best wishes.

Maria Maslin
